Russian troops execute at least 5 Ukrainian prisoners of war

The Russian occupiers probably killed at least five unarmed Ukrainian soldiers who were captured. The video of the execution of the prisoners was posted online, according to Human Rights Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.
Another video of the alleged execution of unarmed Ukrainian soldiers captured by the Russians is circulating on social media. According to the ombudsman, the footage shows at least five allegedly killed prisoners of war.
Lubinets said that he had sent letters to the UN and the ICRC to have the war crime recorded.
“Those who give orders and execute such atrocities must be held strictly accountable,” he emphasized.
Witnesses or those who have information about this crime against Ukrainian servicemen are asked to immediately report it to the hotline of the Ombudsman of Ukraine at 0800 50 17 20.
Russian executions of Ukrainian prisoners
As previously reported by the Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, in 2024, the executions of 109 Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russians were officially confirmed. According to him, in previous years, a total of 177 cases of killings of Ukrainian defenders by the Russian occupiers were recorded.
In February 2025, a video of the execution of Ukrainian soldiers captured by Russians in the Kursk region was posted online. The footage shows the Russian occupier deliberately shooting a Ukrainian prisoner of war in the head. According to one of the Ukrainian soldiers, these were soldiers of the 82nd Brigade.
