Russian troops attack crossing in Kharkiv region: Evacuations and aid deliveries complicated
At night, Russian troops attempted to destroy the crossing from the left bank of the Oskil River to the right bank. This has complicated evacuation efforts and the delivery of humanitarian aid, according to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.
"Last night, the enemy attempted to destroy civilian transport infrastructure — a crossing from the left bank of the Oskil River to the right bank. This has complicated the delivery of humanitarian aid and evacuation efforts. We are currently working on restoration. However, this is an ongoing task, as the enemy tries to disrupt our logistics almost daily," said the head of the Regional Military Administration.
The head of the Kupiansk District Military Administration (DMA), Andrii Kanashevych, added that the overall situation remains tense due to continuous enemy shelling. Russian forces are also actively using FPV drones.
"What is most concerning is that around 1,660 residents remain on the left bank of the Oskil River in the Kurylivka, Kindrashivka, and Kupiansk communities," Kanashevych stated.
Situation in the Kupiansk direction
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, four enemy attacks occurred near the village of Zahryzove in the Kupiansk direction over the past day, January 5.
Recently, Russian forces attempted to assault Defense Forces' positions, taking advantage of poor weather conditions to expand their foothold on the left bank of the Oskil River. However, the attack was successfully repelled.
In early December, Russian forces also tried to seize and hold a foothold on the right bank of the Oskil River near the village of Novomlynsk in the Kupiansk district.
