Russian forces attempted to capture and hold a bridgehead on the right bank of the Oskil River. Their assault was repelled, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The General Staff reports that in the Kharkiv region near the village of Novomlynsk in the Kupiansk district, Russian forces tried to secure and hold a bridgehead on the right bank of the Oskil River.

Russian troops had a numerical advantage and even attempted to cross the river.

However, with support from artillery and drone units, Ukrainian defenders pushed the enemy off the bridgehead.

"In particular, soldiers from the 8th Separate Assault Battalion of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade Edelweiss cleared the area around Novomlynsk of enemy forces," the General Staff stated.

Ukrainian troops successfully eliminated the enemy. The right bank of the Oskil River remains under the control of the Defense Forces, and Ukrainian flags are flying over Novomlynsk.

Battles for Kupiansk

Reports indicated that a group of Russian occupiers may have broken through to Kupiansk. However, Ukrainian defenders managed to repel the attack.

At the same time, according to the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Anatolii Barylevych, there is currently no threat to Kupiansk. Nazar Voloshyn, the spokesperson for the operational-strategic grouping of forces "Khortytsia," stated that Ukrainian defenders pushed Russian forces away from Kupiansk and maintained control of the situation.
