Russia strikes a residential building in Kyiv with a rocket with a high-explosive fragmentation warhead. The missile pierced the building and caused significant damage, Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko says.

Klymenko says that the Russian missile hit the building directly, flying over the previous tall building and hitting a five-story building.

According to him, it was a ballistic missile with a large amount of debris, and most likely the warhead was high-explosive fragmentation.

"This is a direct missile hit. And I can say that this missile flew over this tall building and hit this five-story building. Preliminary, it is a ballistic missile. And we can say that when we inspected the area and the cars, there was a lot of debris, and it was high-explosive fragmentation, most likely the warhead of the missile," Klymenko says.

The Minister also adds that a large amount of debris was found at the site, in particular near the destroyed cars.

Russian strike on Kyiv region and Kyiv

After the nighttime combined Russian attack, Kyiv and the Kyiv region were at the center of large-scale destruction.

Numerous damages to buildings, business centers, and infrastructure, as well as fires, were reported in the capital. Russian strikes killed at least 7 people and injured 13 others, including a pregnant woman and children.

Russian rocket attacks were accompanied by large-scale explosions, particularly in the Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, Solomianskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Podilskyi districts. In some locations, the roofs of buildings and cars caught fire. The falling debris also injured people, with varying degrees of injury, and several people were hospitalized.

In the Kyiv region, Boryspil, Bila Tserkva, and Bucha districts suffered the most. Residential buildings, a hotel with a medical facility, and cars were damaged. The shelling killed a woman born in 1957 and injured eight other people, including two rescuers.

Rescuers continue to extinguish the fires and clear the rubble. About 260 rescuers and 60 pieces of equipment are working at the scene.
