Four civilians were killed in an evening Russian attack on the Mykolaiv region. Three of those killed were children aged between 11 and 12, according to Ukrainian Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi and Heorhii Reshetilov, acting head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.

Details of the attack

According to preliminary information, the enemy strike caused a large-scale fire. The flames quickly engulfed civilian infrastructure, including a local store, pharmacy and post office.

"Four people were killed, including three children. According to preliminary information, two of the children were 11 years old, while the third was 12," the statement said.

Relevant police units and rescuers are working at the scene to establish all the circumstances of another Russian war crime.

Day of mourning

According to Heorhii Reshetilov, August 22 has been declared a Day of Mourning in the Mykolaiv region for those killed in the Russian strike on the settlement of Tokarivka.

In connection with the tragedy, regional authorities called on residents to honor the victims by:

  • lowering the Ukrainian national flags across the region;
  • refraining from holding entertainment events on August 22.

The head of the regional administration expressed his sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed.

Strike on shopping mall in Kryvyi Rih

On the afternoon of August 21, Russian forces launched an attack on Kryvyi Rih’s largest shopping mall, Soniachna Halereia.

Russian forces attacked the civilian facility with attack drones while a large number of visitors were inside. The enemy drones flew at extremely low altitudes. A fire broke out after the strike.

In addition, Russian forces struck the shopping mall again with a jet-powered Shahed drone while rescuers and emergency services were already working at the scene.

As a result of the attack, the death toll rose to 15. Another 130 residents of Kryvyi Rih were injured, including 23 children. More than two dozen people are in very serious condition in hospitals across the city.
