Russian strike on SBU building in Kyiv is serious escalation, foreign minister says

Russia's attack on the building of Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) is a serious escalation of the war and demonstrates Moscow's complete rejection of diplomacy, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said in his post on X.
Details of the attack and threat to UNESCO heritage
The foreign minister stressed that the attack represents a serious escalation by Moscow and took place directly amid new efforts to revive the peace process.
It once again demonstrates Russia's true rejection of diplomacy.
In addition, St. Sophia's Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located near the strike site, was put at risk.
Ukraine's response and appeal to partners
In response, Ukraine is calling on its international partners to take decisive action by unequivocally condemning another act of Russian aggression and increasing pressure on Russian leader Vladimir Putin's regime.
"We call on international partners to unequivocally condemn these actions and step up pressure on the Putin regime," Sybiha stressed.
Russian strike on SBU building in Kyiv
Earlier today, September 4, Russian forces struck the SBU building in central Kyiv. According to media reports, an enemy drone was flying directly toward the office of SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already responded to the latest attack on the capital, ordering an adequate and tangible response to the enemy strike.
The attack on the SBU building left people injured and damaged civilian infrastructure nearby. A large number of civilians were in the city center at the time of the Russian strike.
