Russia struck Lviv last night, hitting the very heart of the city. Most of the affected objects are historical heritage, the number of victims is measured in dozens, and there are children among the victims. Houses were destroyed, and educational and healthcare facilities were damaged.

There were two heavy Russian strikes on Lviv today. The authorities reported fires in the city early in the morning. In particular, residential buildings in the area of the main station caught fire. Many smashed windows were recorded in the area of Konovalets, Brativ Mikhnovskykh, and Melnyk streets.

According to the mayor of the city, Andriy Sadovyi, two districts came under attack - Frankivskyi and Zaliznychnyi. Russia struck the historic part of the city. The rubble is being cleared, and fires are still being extinguished in some places. According to him, it is difficult to understand what the final situation will be.

Sadovyi also said that two schools will not start classes today, and many windows have been blown out: students of Arnika and 17 schools remain at home.

“Most of the damaged objects are historical heritage. 70 buildings in total were damaged... It looks like it was a combined attack. Both missiles and drones,” Sadovyi says, noting that such an attack had not been seen in the city for a long time.

“Every partner in the world who helps Ukraine with air defense is a true defender of life. And everyone who convinces partners to give Ukraine more long-range capability to respond to terror fairly is working to prevent exactly such Russian terrorist attacks on Ukrainian cities. Terror must be stopped,” the President of Ukraine writes.

According to the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, at least seven local architectural monuments were damaged in the Russian attack in Lviv. These are the monuments on Konovaltsia and Kokorudza streets. All the buildings are located in the historic area and the UNESCO buffer zone. They are listed in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine.

2 medical institutions in the city were struck. In particular, the Regional Center for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation on Konovaltsia Street was damaged. Its historic building was damaged. More than 70 windows were smashed. The shock wave blew away the frames. The ceiling fell in six rooms. Batteries were torn off. Computers and medical equipment were destroyed.

“Center is located in the villa of Joseph Franz, which dates back to 1893 and is an architectural monument of local importance,” emphasizes Kozytskyi.

The Orthodox Church of Ukraine of St. George the Victorious on Chernivetska Street was also damaged as a result of the Russian shelling of Lviv.

In general, apartment buildings, private houses, and cars were mostly damaged in the city. In addition, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Russian missile debris was found on the territory of Lviv International Airport. According to preliminary information, the airport infrastructure is not damaged.

On the night of September 4, Russian troops launched another combined attack on Ukraine. Russia used Shaheds, cruise, and ballistic missiles, including the Kh-47 M2 Kinzhal. Lviv suffered the most destruction. According to the latest data, there are 45 injured. Another seven people were killed three of them children. Kryvyi Rih was also under Russian attack today. A hotel there was heavily damaged. Houses were also damaged.
