Russian strike on Kharkiv: Casualties reported, people may be trapped under rubble

On Monday morning, August 18, Russia struck Kharkiv with suicide drones. One of the Shaheds hit a residential building in the Industrialnyi district of the city, according to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, and the city's mayor, Ihor Terekhov.
The strike caused a large-scale fire, and people may remain under the rubble.
According to preliminary data, five residents are considered missing.
According to the Regional Military Administration, Russia killed 5 people in the morning strike, and 18 were wounded.
The search and rescue operation is ongoing; firefighters, medics, and rescue services are working at the site.
"A 16-year-old boy became the fourth victim of this morning's Russian attack on Kharkiv. The child's body was found under the rubble," Syniehubov says.

On the night of August 18, Kharkiv suffered another massive Russian drone attack. The first explosions were heard at around 4:48 a.m. Kyiv time.
According to Mayor Ihor Terekhov, in the Industrialnyi district, one of the Shaheds hit a residential high-rise building, where a large fire broke out. The fire engulfed several floors in two entrances at once.
The destruction of the floors posed a threat of collapse, and people could have been trapped under the rubble. Rescue services were working at the scene.
According to Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, the victims included adults and children. As of this morning, the number of wounded had reached 18, including six children aged one to 17.
