Russian strike destroys Ukrainian artist's installation about veterans' injuries and prosthetics

A Russian strike destroyed a warehouse on the outskirts of Kyiv where Ukrainian artist Nikita Kadan's installation New Integrity was being stored, according to a post by Nikita Kadan on Instagram.
Attack on the warehouse
According to the artist, Russia struck the warehouse in late July. Since then, the project team has made several attempts to access the ruins to salvage any possible remains of the work, but access to the site remains restricted due to the instability of the structure.
"Judging by the condition of the ruins themselves, there is no reason to believe that any part of the work could have survived," Kadan wrote.
What New Integrity was about
Nikita Kadan created the project on commission from Ribbon International. It was presented in April at the Culture Pavilion in Kyiv.
New Integrity is an exhibition about loss, recovery, and changing perceptions of the human body. The artist's work reflects on the experience of injury, amputation, prosthetics, and rehabilitation.
The installation was accompanied by a soundscape by Clemens Poole, created on the basis of testimonies from four veterans interviewed by sociologist Sofiia Lavrenyuk.

Earlier, it became known that a work by Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei, titled Three Perfectly Proportioned Spheres and Camouflage Uniforms Painted White, was also being stored at the same warehouse. It, too, was destroyed in the Russian strike.
