Twelve Russian soldiers have fled their positions in the temporarily occupied Kherson region. They were reportedly dressed in civilian clothing, according to the Telegram channel of the partisan movement ATESH.
According to ATESH, an agent within the Russian Armed Forces reported that 12 fellow servicemen deserted in one of the occupied districts of the Kherson region.
"All of them voluntarily abandoned their frontline positions and fled in an unknown direction—likely seeing no other way to save their lives," the partisans stated.
A large quantity of weapons, military uniforms, and personal belongings of the Russian servicemen were left behind at the scene of the escape.
"The deserters changed into civilian clothes and are now being searched for across the entire temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. Their unit has been placed on high alert, and mass interrogations of fellow soldiers have begun," ATESH reported.
An interesting detail
Among the deserters is a citizen of Moldova, a representative of the Gagauz national minority, recruited through a covert Russian military recruitment center operating in Gagauziya.
"Russia continues to exploit vulnerable populations and the poorest regions, turning people into cannon fodder," ATESH stated.
Situation at the front
On May 2, there were 216 combat encounters on the front lines in Ukraine. The enemy is primarily focusing pressure on four fronts.
The heaviest attacks by Russian forces are taking place along the Pokrovsk, Kursk, Lyman, and Novopavlivka directions.
In the Dnipro direction (covering the Kherson region), the aggressor did not conduct any offensive operations.
