Russian soldiers execute two Ukrainian POWs in Pokrovsk direction – Prosecutor General's Office

An investigation has been launched into the execution of two Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian soldiers in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the Telegram channel of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to operational data, on the morning of May 22, Russian terrorists launched an assault on the positions of the Defense Forces near the village of Udachne in the Pokrovsk district (Donetsk region - ed.), where four Ukrainian soldiers were carrying out a mission.
"During the offensive, representatives of the aggressor state captured two defenders and then executed them unarmed with automatic rifles in a forested area. The fate of the other defenders is currently unknown," the Office of the Prosecutor General wrote.
All the circumstances of the incident and the identities of those involved in the war crime are currently being established.
According to the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, he has sent official letters to the United Nations (UN) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Russia’s war crimes
During its full-scale war against Ukraine, Russia has systematically violated the norms of international humanitarian law, committing numerous war crimes. The aggressor’s forces regularly shell civilian infrastructure — including residential buildings, hospitals, schools, and energy facilities.
In addition to missile strikes and bombings, numerous instances of the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war have been documented. Recently, CNN published evidence that the Russian command has been ordering its troops to kill Ukrainian defenders who surrender.
