Russian Sochi under rocket and drone attack, tourists evacuated to shelters

Russians are reporting that during the night of October 17, the city of Sochi came under attack from unidentified drones and missiles. As a result, tourists in hotels were forced to move to basements, according to Russian Telegram channels.
The first reports mentioned a possible drone threat. In particular, Sochi Mayor Andrey Proshunin posted at 2:15 a.m., sharing instructions on how to act in various emergencies.
At the same time, several local channels began posting videos from Sochi where air raid sirens could be heard. Telegram channels also reported that air defense systems were active amid the drone attack, and at least three explosions were heard over Adler.
Closer to morning, at 4:55 a.m., Sochi Mayor Andrey Proshunin wrote that air defense systems were operating in the city and allegedly repelling a missile attack.
“I urge Sochi residents and visitors to remain calm and follow all necessary safety measures. If you live near the coastline, do not go outside under any circumstances - stay in an enclosed room without windows,” he wrote.
At the same time, the Telegram channel ASTRA reported that tourists in Sochi hotels were being moved to basements and underground parking areas.
So far, there have been no reports of any missile impacts on the city.
Drone attack on Sochi
In early October, it was reported that the city of Sochi came under a drone attack while Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin was visiting the city. At that time, he was speaking at the Valdai Forum.
In early August, the Ukrainian General Staff announced that the drone forces had struck the fuel and pipeline complex at Sochi Airport, causing a large-scale fire at the facility.
