Russian propagandists ordered to shift focus from border breach in Kursk region
Russian propagandists are spreading false claims about Russian successes on the front amid rumors that Ukrainian forces have entered the Kursk region, according to Andriy Kovalenko, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
"Russian military correspondents and propagandists have been instructed to urgently shift the focus from the North to the battles in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions," he wrote.
According to Kovalenko, there are already reports about "tricolors on administrative buildings" and "major victories" by the Russian forces.
The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation clarified that this is a sign of the enemy's traditional information strategy.
What preceded this
Today, August 6, Russians reported on heavy shelling of settlements in the Kursk region near the border, particularly the city of Sudzha.
Following this, Russian Telegram channels began spreading information that Ukrainian troops had "invaded" the Kursk region.
The Russian Ministry of Defense also released such information, specifying that the border was allegedly breached by infantry with tanks and armored fighting vehicles.
According to the Russian agency, it was decided to bring reserves to the border.
