Russian planes prompt NATO fighter jets to take off

Russian aircraft violated flight rules, prompting Lithuania to scramble NATO jets. According to Delfi, citing the Lithuanian Armed Forces, NATO fighter jets were scrambled twice.
"They were launched to observe and escort Russian planes that breached air regulations. Both incidents were unrelated to preventive measures in Poland against drones," the report states.
It was reported that the Russian aircraft were flying with their radar transponders turned off and without flight plans.
Training in Belarus
From September 12 to 16, Russia and Belarus are holding their scheduled joint military exercises, Zapad-2025. Russian troops began arriving in Belarus for the drills in early August.
On the night of September 12, Poland fully closed its border with Belarus due to the Zapad-2025 exercises. Lithuania is also prepared to close its border with Belarus.
It is worth noting that during Russia’s nighttime attack on Ukraine on September 10, several Russian drones entered Polish airspace. The Polish military used weapons to shoot them down.
