Russian plane drops bomb on police major's house in Kursk region

A Russian aircraft dropped an aerial bomb on a police major's house in the Kursk region, the news source Astra reports.
According to the media, on January 2, a high-explosive aerial bomb fell in the village of Sergeevka, Lgovsky district, Kursk region. A Russian aircraft dropped the bomb, which did not explode but left a crater at the site.
Local residents reported that the bomb fell into a yard on Tsentralna Street, where a police major resides. There are allegedly no casualties from the incident.
Astra notes that in 2024, at least 165 cases were recorded where Russians accidentally dropped aerial bombs on Russian territory and the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Since the beginning of 2025, four such incidents have already been registered.

Situation in Kursk region
The active combat operations are ongoing in the Kursk region. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 24 attacks by Russian troops in the Kursk region over the past day. Russia launched nine airstrikes on its own territory, dropping 13 guided aerial bombs.
As recently reported, the Russian army carried out an airstrike on a care home in the city of Sudzha, Kursk region. At the time of the attack, more than 70 people were present there, most of whom were elderly.
