Russian overnight attack hits Okhtyrka in Sumy region: Apartments ablaze, dozens evacuated

On the night of December 8, Russian forces attacked Okhtyrka in the Sumy region with drones, causing a fire in a multi-story building. Rescue teams shared photos of the aftermath on the State Emergency Service’s Telegram.
“Russian forces struck a nine-story building in Okhtyrka with drones. A fire broke out in apartments on the 2nd to the 5th floors,” the rescuers reported.
Simultaneously with extinguishing the fire, 35 residents were evacuated. Another seven people, including one child, were rescued from damaged apartments.
“Due to the threat of renewed enemy attacks, operations had to be temporarily suspended. Despite the difficulties, all fire hotspots have been extinguished. Clearing of damaged structures is ongoing,” the State Emergency Service press center reported.
Information regarding the number of injured is being clarified. All necessary assistance and support are being provided to the affected residents.

On the night of December 8, Russian forces struck the Okhtyrka community in the Sumy region with three attack drones, hitting a multi-story building. Seven people were injured and are currently hospitalized.
The enemy also recently targeted the energy infrastructure of the Sumy region, leaving some residents without water and electricity.
