Russian Molniya drone strike near residential high-rise in Kharkiv: Child injured

Russian forces struck Kharkiv with a Molniya drone on the evening of Friday, August 1. A child was injured, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov on Telegram.
"A strike by an enemy Molniya drone on the city has been recorded. We are clarifying the details," the mayor said.
He specified that the enemy UAV hit an area near a residential high-rise in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv.
"Unfortunately, a child was injured," he added.

Syniehubov clarified that a 25-year-old woman and a 35-year-old woman were also injured. They were taken to the hospital and are already receiving all necessary medical care.
In turn, Terekhov noted that the number of injured has risen to five, including a 9-year-old boy.

According to Syniehubov, the 9-year-old child was hospitalized.

Mayor Terekhov reported that the number of injured has now reached six.
He also said that the attack damaged two apartment buildings and one car. All relevant services are working at the scene.
Molniya drone
The Russian Molniya kamikaze drone is an inexpensive fixed-wing UAV. The Russian forces have repeatedly used it to strike peaceful Kharkiv.
The drone weighs about 10 kg, has a wingspan of approximately 1.2 to 1.5 meters, and can carry a warhead weighing from 3 to 7 kg. Its operational range is up to 40 km, with a maximum speed of about 80 km/h.
On July 14, a Molniya drone strike damaged a roadway in Kharkiv.
