Russian missiles and drones contain foreign components from at least 19 countries - Prosecutor General of Ukraine
The missiles and drones used by Russia to attack Ukrainian cities have foreign components made in at least 19 countries, according to Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin.
"The missiles and drones used by Russia for daily attacks on peaceful cities and settlements of Ukraine contain foreign components manufactured in at least 19 countries. These are China, South Korea, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United States and others," he wrote.
According to him, there is currently a search for a solution on how to cut off Russia's access to modern technologies it uses to create conditions that are uninhabitable for Ukrainians.
"It is extremely important to develop a comprehensive policy to prevent illegal trafficking in technology and strengthen accountability mechanisms for those involved in such activities," he said.
Kostin believes that the main part of such efforts should be the criminalization of transportation, sale, purchase, delivery or other actions related to the supply of technological goods to sanctioned entities and individuals.
Foreign components for Russian weapons
In December 2023, The New York Times reported that Russian authorities and companies had joined to ask Morocco and Türkiye to use their ports to circumvent sanctions against Russia.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously said that at least 49 types of components that Russia does not produce were found in Russian Kinzhal missiles, and at least 53 types of such components were found in Kh-101 missiles.
According to Reuters, the United States is trying to stop the flow of American components to Russia, which it uses to produce weapons.
