Russian army launched a missile strike on the center of Sumy today, March 24. As of now, 65 people have been reported injured, according to the Sumy region prosecutor's office on Telegram.

"65 injured, including 14 children, as a result of an attack on a residential area in the city of Sumy – an investigation has been launched," the law enforcement statement reads.

They noted that a pre-trial investigation into war crimes is already underway.

The prosecutor’s office established that Russia launched the missile strike on a densely populated residential area in Sumy at around 2:00 PM Kyiv time. Several apartment buildings and an educational institution were damaged.

Prosecutors are currently documenting the aftermath of the Russian attack.

According to the city council, 74 people have been injured in Sumy, including 13 children.

The council also specified that due to the attack, gas supply is unavailable in eight buildings, hot water and heating in eighteen, and cold water in six.

Strike on Sumy

Earlier today, March 24, explosions were heard in Sumy. Later, it was confirmed that Russian forces had launched a missile strike on the city, damaging apartment buildings and a school.

The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artiukh, initially reported 28 injured, including 24 adults and four children.

It remains unknown which type of missile was used in the attack.
