Russian Kalibr carrier in Black Sea and its potential missile volley - Ukrainian Armed Forces
This morning, on October 4, one Russian warship was spotted in the Black Sea, deployed for combat duty by the aggressor state. The vessel is equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles, according to the Ukrainian Navy.
According to military officials, this ship in the Black Sea area is capable of launching up to four Kalibr missiles during a missile strike.
Meanwhile, no enemy naval groupings have been observed in the Sea of Azov.
In the Mediterranean, however, two Russian ships were spotted, both carrying Kalibr cruise missiles, with a combined salvo capacity of up to 24 missiles.
"Russia continues to violate the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) of 1974 by disabling automatic identification systems," the military command noted in its statement.
Additionally, the Ukrainian Navy reported that within the past day, in the interest of Russia, the Kerch Strait was transited by:
- Five vessels into the Black Sea, four of which continued toward the Bosphorus Strait;
- Five vessels into the Sea of Azov, one of which came from the Bosphorus Strait.
The commander of the Ukrainian Navy previously said that the Russian Black Sea Fleet was forced to relocate nearly all its operational ships from occupied Crimea to other locations.
Furthermore, on October 3, British intelligence reported that Russian bomber pilots are wary of being shot down over the Black Sea. As a result, they are hastily launching missiles at decoy targets and quickly exiting the area.
