On November 1, the Russian army lost 2,500 troops in a single day. This is the highest number of Russian casualties in a 24-hour period since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to estimates by the Ukrainian military command, the Defense Forces neutralized 2,500 Russian troops in 24 hours. This means that, on average, the Russian army was losing one soldier every 35 seconds. The hourly figure exceeded 100 troops.
The previous record for the number of casualties in a single day had been set quite recently, on October 21, 2026, when the Russian army lost 2,250 troops.
Before that, the highest daily figure had remained unchanged for almost two years. It was recorded on December 19, 2024, when Russian forces lost 2,200 troops.
Russia's losses in October
October 2026 also set a record for the Russian army in terms of casualties since the start of the full-scale war. According to the General Staff, Russia lost 54,400 troops killed and wounded over the month.
For comparison, this is roughly equivalent to the population of the Russian city of Vorkuta, which has around 55,000 residents.
Thus, in a single month, the number of Russian army casualties was comparable to the population of an entire city. And on the very first day of November, Russian forces set a new daily record for losses.
Defense Forces' records in October
October saw notable successes by Ukrainian defenders in several sectors. The Defense Forces not only reclaimed more territory than the Russian army managed to capture but also inflicted record losses on the enemy.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian troops liberated 96.2 square kilometers of territory during the month. This is 10.4 square kilometers more than Russian forces managed to capture over the same period.
At the same time, Ukrainian units achieved significant results in striking enemy personnel and equipment. In particular, the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck 64,807 enemy targets in October, including 16,796 Russian troops.
Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces Robert "Madyar" Brovdi described this figure as the highest since the start of the full-scale war.
Operators of the Alpha Special Operations Center of the Security Service of Ukraine also achieved significant results. In just one week, they neutralized 3,198 Russian troops: 2,146 were killed and another 1,052 wounded.
