Russian forces shelling Kharkiv: City center hit, casualties reported
On the evening of Tuesday, January 16, the Russian Federation once again attacked the city of Kharkiv, according to the RBC-Ukraine's correspondent.
In the evening of Tuesday, explosions were heard in Kharkiv.
Later, the attack on Kharkiv was confirmed by the mayor of the city, Ihor Terekhov, and the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.
"Kharkiv is under a missile strike. Explosions are heard in the city. Be careful," Terekhov wrote.

According to Mayor Ihor Terekhov, the number of casualties from the Russian shelling has risen to 16 people. Also, two women are in serious condition.

According to Syniehubov, the Russians struck residential infrastructure in the city center of Kharkiv, damaging multi-story buildings.
"A 43-year-old woman was hospitalized in serious condition. Another ten people are in mild to moderate condition. Medics continue to examine the victims," he wrote.

Oleh Syniehubov reported that Russia struck with two missiles, presumably S-300.
Unfortunately, there is information about damage to civilian residential infrastructure and four casualties.
"At the moment, doctors are providing assistance to four injured persons; their condition is mild. Emergency services continue to survey the impact sites," he wrote.

According to Terekhov, the Russians targeted the center of Kharkiv. Necessary services are already heading to the scene.
"Strikes on the city center. Exactly where there is no military infrastructure and where residential buildings are. Emergency services are already working at the crash sites. There is information about the wounded," Terekhov wrote.
It should be noted that an air raid alert has been declared in the city and region. Before this, the Air Force reported a ballistic missile threat to the eastern regions of Ukraine.
As of 21:49, an air raid alert was also declared in the Poltava and Sumy regions.
Massive shelling of Ukraine
On the morning of January 13, Russian occupiers massively attacked Ukraine with missiles of various types. It is known that the occupiers launched cruise missiles from Tu-95MS aircraft, as well as air-ballistic Kinzhals from MiG-31K fighters.
Explosions were heard in many regions of Ukraine, air defense systems were activated. Arrivals were recorded in the Dnipro, Poltava region, and debris from the missile fell in Chernihiv.
