Russian forces launch massive strike on Zaporizhzhia: fire breaks out, several wounded

On the night of September 15–16, Russian forces carried out a massive strike on Zaporizhzhia. A fire broke out in the city, causing damage and leaving several people wounded, according to Zaporizhzhia regional governor Ivan Fedorov.
Starting at 11:09 PM Kyiv time, when an air raid alert was declared in the region, Zaporizhzhia governor Ivan Fedorov warned of a possible threat from guided aerial bombs. Later, the threat of cruise missiles was also reported.
At least two series of explosions were heard in the region, and the city of Zaporizhzhia also came under attack.
"One person wounded — these are the preliminary consequences of the Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia. Information on destruction is being clarified. The threat remains. Stay in safe places," Fedorov wrote at 11:50 PM Kyiv time.
Forty-five minutes later, he reported that the strike had damaged cars, shattered windows, and hit building facades in the city. In one district, the attack caused a fire.
At the same time, Ukraine faced the threat of ballistic missile launches from the south. The Ukrainian Air Force also recorded high-speed targets moving toward Zaporizhzhia. Local media reported multiple explosions in the city.
As of 00:51 AM Kyiv time, the number of wounded had risen to five.
"Russian forces continue to attack the regional center. As a result of a strike on private housing, five people were injured, according to preliminary data. Other consequences of the attack are being established," Fedorov added.
As of 00:58 AM Kyiv time, the air raid alert was lifted in many regions, including Zaporizhzhia.
