Russian forces intensify their activity in Sumy region, Ukrainian border guards comment

Russian reconnaissance and sabotage groups have intensified their activity in the southeastern part of the Sumy region. Ukrainian defenders are responding swiftly to these threats, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing the Spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko.
Russian forces are attempting to breach the border in the direction of Novenke and Zhuravka, but Ukrainian defense units continue to stop their attempts again and again.
Andriy Demchenko stated that the enemy is using small assault groups to try to cross the border, but these groups are almost immediately destroyed by Ukrainian forces either before reaching the border or immediately after crossing the line.
To counter these threats, artillery, drones, and other modern technologies are actively used, enabling rapid elimination of enemy forces and preventing the Russians from accumulating on Ukrainian territory.
Particular attention is also being drawn to the increased activity of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups operating in border areas. Previously, most of the enemy units were recorded in the northern part of the Sumy region, where they attempted to infiltrate Ukrainian territory to conduct sabotage attacks on Ukrainian positions.
However, according to the Ukrainian military, the situation has changed over time, and now these groups have started appearing in the southeastern part of the Sumy region, trying to cross the state border line and attack the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to Demchenko, Ukraine's Defense Forces are responding quickly and effectively to these threats, preventing the enemy from making any significant breakthroughs.
Situation in Sumy region
In late February, information appeared online about a supposed breakthrough by Russian terrorists in the village of Novenke. However, this was later refuted.
Furthermore, Demchenko previously stated that Russian forces are attempting to expand the active combat zone at the regional border. Meanwhile, the Russians are sending small assault groups toward Novenke, trying to secure positions in the area.
