Russian forces are advancing toward Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region, but Ukraine’s Defense Forces are aware of the enemy’s plans and are responding accordingly, according to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

He also heard briefings from brigade commanders and a border guard unit on the current situation, the nature of enemy actions, and the condition of unit supplies.

Kostiantynivka direction

Special attention was given by the Commander-in-Chief to the situation on the Kostiantynivka direction.

He received a report from the commander of the 19th Army Corps, Brigadier General Oleksandr Bakulin, on the operational situation directly in the area of the city. Together, they analyzed enemy actions, intentions, and possible scenarios for the development of the situation.

According to Syrskyi, Russian occupation forces continue to apply constant pressure, benefiting from manpower superiority and disregarding losses.

The enemy is attempting to advance in small assault groups, looking for weak points in the defense.

"We timely detect these intentions, conduct active defense, and inflict significant losses on the enemy," the Commander-in-Chief said.

Awards and acknowledgments

Syrskyi awarded drone pilots of the 3rd Border Guard Detachment for effective combat performance.

He also expressed gratitude to servicemen of the 19th Army Corps, the 56th Motorized Infantry Brigade, and the 156th Mechanized Brigade. He additionally recognized fighters of the 24th Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo, who have been defending Chasiv Yar for over two years.

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russia has concentrated around 11,000 troops in the Kostiantynivka–Druzhkivka tactical area.

Commander of the 19th Army Corps Bakulin reported that Russian groups have infiltrated various areas of Kostiantynivka, but do not control any part of the city.
