Russian forces increase activity in Kharkiv, major clashes in Pokrovsk - General Staff
Russian forces have intensified their operations in the Kharkiv direction, but the heaviest fighting is occurring in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The General Staff reports two combat clashes in the Kharkiv direction. From the Belgorod area, enemy forces launched two guided aerial bombs at Staritsa and six at Vovchansk.
In the Kupiansk direction, four enemy assault actions were repelled near Synkivka, Berestove, and Makiivka. Two more attacks are ongoing near Petropavlivka and Novoyehorivka.
In the Lyman direction, Russian invaders attempted to improve their positions near Dibrova. The Defense Forces thwarted these attempts. Additionally, Russian forces carried out three strikes with guided aerial bombs.
In the Siversk direction, the number of combat clashes has increased to five, with no success for the enemy.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian occupiers conducted 16 attacks. Seven of these were repelled in the areas of Kalynove, Novoselivka Persha, and Netailove. Nine more attacks are ongoing near Novooleksandrivka, Sokol, Prohres, and Nevelske.
Since the start of the day, Russian forces have conducted three assault actions in the Kurakhove direction.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, in the area of the left-bank bridgehead of the Dnipro, occupiers attacked twice in the Krynky area.
Russian offensive in Kharkiv region
Since May 10, the Russian army has continued its offensive in the northern Kharkiv region. Previously, the General Staff stated that the occupiers had been stopped in the Kharkiv direction, and Russian forces were bogged down in street fighting in Vovchansk.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that enemy losses in this direction are eight to one.
Russia is reportedly assembling another group of forces 90 kilometers northwest of Kharkiv.
