Russia amassing another group of troops near Ukraine border - Zelenskyy
Russia is gathering another group of troops near the border with Ukraine. It is preparing an offensive 90 kilometers northwest of Kharkiv, says President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy while addressing world leaders.
He recorded the address in a destroyed printing house in Kharkiv, which the Russian army recently attacked. It was one of the largest printing enterprises in Europe.
"Right now, these days, we are defending ourselves 60 kilometers northeast from this place from yet another attempt of the Russian assault," the president said.
Zelenskyy says that the Russians are gathering another group of troops near the border with Ukraine to launch an offensive.
"Russia is preparing for offensive actions also 90 kilometers northwest from here (Kharkiv - ed.) – they gather another group of troops near our border… The one who does all this doesn’t want peace," he stressed.
Situation in Kharkiv and the region
On May 10, Russian troops launched an offensive in the north of the Kharkiv region. Fighting is currently taking place in Vovchansk and neighboring towns. Earlier, the General Staff said that the Russians had been stopped in the north, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that they were bogged down in street battles in Vovchansk.
Russian troops are shelling Kharkiv every day. On May 25, they attacked the Epicenter hypermarket, where there were many people. As of now, it is known that 12 people were killed and more than 40 people injured as a result of the attack.
Later in the evening, the Russian army struck again at the center of Kharkiv. About 25 people were injured.
