Russian forces aim to occupy entire Donetsk region by year's end
Russian terrorists have set a new date for the full occupation of the Donetsk region. They aim to reach the administrative borders by December 31 of the current year, according to Vitalii Barabash, the head of Avdiivka Municipal Military Administration.
"They have set another date to reach the administrative borders of the Donetsk region. Now it's December 31. In other words, they have a task to reach the administrative borders of the Donetsk region by the end of the year," stated Barabash.
According to the head of the Avdiivka Municipal Military Administration, the Russians understand that if they occupy Avdiivka, it will be easier for them to advance towards Pokrovsk and other populated areas. Therefore, capturing the heights of the city is crucial for them.
At the same time, Barabash notes that terrorists are essentially erasing Avdiivka.
Situation in Avdiivka
Since the beginning of the week, terrorists have intensified their offensive on Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy is heavily shelling the city and neighboring settlements. In the past day alone, Ukrainian soldiers repelled about 20 attacks in the Avdiivka direction. The situation in the city remains tense.
Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) suggest that the Russians' attempt to advance on the city could be like a "fight against a concrete wall."
According to Barabash, for the first time since the escalation, there were no rocket strikes in Avdiivka last night. However, fierce battles continue.
