Russian fake drones crashed in Moldova - Details
On November 10, two decoy drones without warheads fell on Moldovan territory. Russia has been using these drones extensively in air attacks against Ukraine, according to the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
Defense intelligence reported that Russia deployed over 2,000 UAVs against Ukraine in October 2024 alone. Approximately half of these drones are decoys or false targets intended to distract and overload Ukrainian air defenses.
The Parody is one of the main decoy drones the aggressor is deploying en masse in air attacks. These UAVs do not carry warheads. They are much smaller and cheaper than the Shahed-136/Geran-2 drones but, thanks to a Luneburg lens, are radar signatures designed to imitate them, the intelligence agency explained.
Analysis of Russian Parody drones has revealed that even these primitive "plywood" drones are beyond Russia’s ability to produce independently.
The flight control module of the Parody drone contains components manufactured by companies from China (Ebyte, Jiashan Jinchang Electron, Yangzhou Yangjie Electronic Technology), the United States (Texas Instruments, Cypress Semiconductor, InvenSense), Switzerland (STMicroelectronics), and Taiwan (SONiX Technology).
