Late in the evening on April 5, Mykolaiv was targeted in a drone attack. Fires broke out in a private residence in the city, informs Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.

The official noted that Russian forces used strike drones to attack the city.

"As a result of the Shahed attack on Mykolaiv, fires occurred in two residential buildings," Kim said in his social media post.

He also added that emergency services are currently working at the sites of the attack.

It was reported around 10 PM (Kyiv time) that the Ukrainian Air Force detected the movement of enemy strike drones heading toward Mykolaiv. The military also urged local residents to stay in shelters until the air alert was lifted.

Later, Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych added that the attacks caused damage in the private sector.

"Utility services will begin to address the consequences. Fortunately, there were no casualties. This is the most important thing," the mayor stated.

Update on the aftermath: Injured citizens reported

According to updated information released by the head of the Regional Military Administration, Kim, two people were injured in Mykolaiv due to the Russian airstrike. He reported that a 49-year-old woman was hospitalized, while a 72-year-old woman received outpatient treatment.

"Three fires broke out, which have already been extinguished. Seven private houses and a car were damaged," the head of the Regional Military Administration said.

Later, it was confirmed that a third person had been injured. According to Kim, a 67-year-old woman also received outpatient medical assistance.

As a result, the total number of injured in the Russian drone attack on Mykolaiv has risen to three.

Russian airstrikes on Mykolaiv

Notably, the city frequently suffers from Russian airstrikes, during which the enemy uses various types of missile weapons, as well as kamikaze drones, including Iranian-made Shahed drones (which the Russian army marks as Geran).

For example, during the last attack on January 28, Russian forces launched a missile strike on Mykolaiv, which resulted in the deaths of two women.

In mid-February, Russian forces struck a thermal power plant in Mykolaiv, leaving tens of thousands of residents without heat.

On the night of February 16, Russians launched a massive attack on Mykolaiv. The strike caused damage to critical infrastructure, and one person was injured.
