Russian drone strikes National Academy of Sciences building in central Kyiv

A Russian drone struck the National Academy of Sciences in Kyiv's Shevchenkivskyi district on Monday, September 28, according to Ukrinform, Oleksandr Sazanovych, head of the Shevchenkivskyi District State Administration, and Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.
The press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine told Ukrinform that there was a "direct hit by a Russian drone on the National Academy of Sciences building," which is located in the center of the capital.
"I am at the site of the strike in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Unfortunately, there are injured and dead. All emergency and relevant services are working at the scene," Sazanovych said.
He also urged residents not to approach the site of the strike or interfere with the work of emergency services.

"Academy of Sciences, central Kyiv, what an idiotic war," Kovalenko said.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the Russian strike on the National Academy of Sciences building.
"A rescue operation is underway: crews are putting out the fire and searching for people who may have been trapped inside. All services are deployed. Today in Kyiv, a pharmaceutical company and gas stations were also attacked; in Dnipro, a business center; and in other cities and regions, civilian facilities, businesses, and communications infrastructure were targeted as well. Sadly, people have been killed…" the president said.
The head of state stressed that Russia would definitely face a response for this.
"Russia must be held accountable for all of this and face real consequences," he said.
Today, one of the gas stations in Kyiv was damaged in a Russian strike. Its employees stopped work in time during the air raid alert and went to a shelter, so none of them were injured.
Russian drones also struck Kyiv this morning. Facilities in the capital's Obolonskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts were damaged in the attack, including a gas station and an office building.
