A Russian drone deliberately targeted a civilian business in the Sumy region's Konotop district, killing a woman and injuring four other people, according to Sumy Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Hryhorov.
A civilian farm specializing in cattle breeding was struck in the attack
A 31-year-old farm worker, who was just days away from her 32nd birthday, was caught in the epicenter of the blast and died at the scene from her injuries.
Two people injured in the Russian attack were hospitalized.
According to preliminary medical assessments, their injuries are not serious. In addition to the human casualties, animals were also killed and injured in the attack.
All relevant emergency services are currently working at the scene to deal with the aftermath of the Russian strike and assess the extent of the damage.
Situation in Sumy region
On the morning of October 24, parts of Sumy region were left without electricity following Russian attacks.
Russian forces regularly strike civilian and critical infrastructure in the region. In particular, on October 16, a Russian drone hit a shopping mall in central Sumy, injuring several people.
In addition, on October 6, Russian forces struck a high-rise apartment building in Sumy with a jet-powered drone. A child was among those injured.
