Russian jet-powered drone strikes apartment building in Sumy, two injured

Russian forces struck an apartment building in Sumy with a jet-powered drone on Tuesday, October 6. A child was among those injured, according to Serhii Kryvosheienko, head of the Sumy City Military Administration.
“A jet-powered UAV hit a densely populated residential area in the Zarichnyi district of Sumy. The enemy directed the strike between the third and fourth floors of an apartment building. Preliminary reports indicate that two people were injured, including a 16-year-old teenager. His condition is not serious. Other information is still being clarified,” he said.
Kryvosheienko added that the enemy attack sparked a fire. A wall, windows and balcony glazing, as well as civilian vehicles parked nearby, were damaged.
“Windows and doors at a preschool educational facility were also damaged. There are disruptions to gas supplies for residents,” the head of the city military administration added.
According to local authorities, the Russian strike hit a residential area of the city and damaged both the apartment building and nearby civilian infrastructure.

Earlier, Russian forces attacked the center of Kryvyi Rih in the morning with two Banderol drones. Three people were injured in the attack.
Overnight, Russian forces launched 137 attack drones at Ukraine, 49 of them jet-powered. Ukrainian Defense Forces shot down most of them, but some strikes were recorded.
