On the night of June 10, a Russian drone damaged the technical area of the Odesa Zoo. As a result of the explosion, a domestic ram died, and the hayloft building was damaged, according to the zoo's director, Ihor Beliakov.

According to him, the animal holding areas were not directly hit. However, the blast wave reached the part of the zoo where the animal was. Other zoo residents and staff were not injured.

The damaged building was a storage for branches and sawdust. At the time of the impact, it was empty, which avoided a larger fire.

According to the administration, all animals were checked after the explosion. Some, including zebras, showed signs of stress, but quickly recovered.

Ihor Beliakov posted a photo of sheep living in the Odesa Zoo on his Facebook page the day before.
