On May 16, Russian forces carried out a drone attack on Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region during the day. The drone struck a car, resulting in fatalities and injuries, according to the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the information, at 11:30 a.m., Russian forces targeted Kostiantynivka using a Molniya-1 drone. A 55-year-old man driving the vehicle sustained injuries incompatible with life. Another man, aged 57, who was near a shelter, was also killed.

Two women, aged 53 and 72, were injured. They suffered shrapnel wounds, burns, and blast trauma.

At 11:45 a.m., Russian forces launched another FPV drone strike on the town. As a result, a 72-year-old woman who was at a local market sustained blast trauma and shrapnel wounds. Her condition is reported as serious.

The injured received medical assistance and were taken to the hospital.

Under the procedural guidance of the Kostiantynivka District Prosecutor’s Office, pre-trial investigations have been launched into war crimes under Articles 438.1 and 438.2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Attack on Ukraine on May 16

On the night of May 16, Russian forces launched 112 attack drones against Ukraine.

Air defense forces managed to shoot down 73 Shahed and other types of drones in eastern, southern, and central Ukraine. In addition, 36 imitator drones were lost locally without negative consequences.

The attack affected Odesa, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv and Kyiv regions.
