Russian drone attack on Kyiv: Residential buildings and playground damaged

The mayor said that in the Dniprovskyi district of the city, the wreckage of a downed Russian drone fell on a playground between houses. Emergency services are heading to the site to check it out.

The wreckage was preliminarily recorded falling on a residential area. No damage, casualties or fires were reported.

As of 5:43 a.m. debris fell in Holosiivskyi district.

According to Serhii Popko, the head of the Kyiv City Administration of the International Committee of the Red Cross, debris fell in the capital in the Holosiivskyi district on the territory of residential buildings.

The official noted that windows and doors in an apartment building were damaged.

"Information about the victims is being established. Emergency services have arrived at the scene," he adds.

At 5:50 a.m., the mayor of the capital clarified that in the Holosiivskyi district, shrapnel damaged windows and doors in an apartment on the 6th floor of a residential building.

"A small fragment, similar to a nut, was found in the apartment," said Vitali Klitschko and added that information about the damage and victims is being clarified.

At 6:20 a.m., it was reported that the drone's wreckage fell on the territory of a private household in Desnianskyi district. A gazebo in a cottage community is on fire at the crash site.

There is no information about the victims. The data is being clarified. Emergency services are on their way to the scene.

Russian night shelling of Ukraine

On Wednesday evening, August 28, Russians launched Shahed drones in the direction of Ukraine. An air alert was declared in many regions.

Later, an alert was also raised in Kyiv due to the approaching drones.

At 4:21 a.m., powerful explosions were heard in the capital. The Ukrainian Air Force reported a drone flying towards the city. Ukrainian air defenses were operating in Kyiv and the region.
