Ukrainian intelligence agencies have recorded a new intercepted conversation among Russian troops, indicating low morale within Russian army units and the coercion of soldiers into taking part in assault operations, Ukraine's Defense Intelligence reports.

Threats and forced attacks

According to the intelligence service, the intercepted conversation features a Russian commander shouting and threatening subordinates to immediately move into an offensive, despite their lack of readiness to carry out the order.

The commander appears under pressure to quickly report to higher command that the assault has begun, leading him to apply psychological pressure on personnel and force troops to go on the attack.

Signs of declining morale

Ukraine's military intelligence says such intercepts regularly confirm ongoing discipline issues and deteriorating morale within Russian units. Commanders are increasingly forcing soldiers into assault operations under pressure, trying to fulfill assigned objectives at any cost.

Previously, Ukrainian intelligence also intercepted a conversation in which a relative of a Russian military described the destruction of his unit in the war against Ukraine. According to her, only two out of 25 Russian soldiers survived.
