Russian carrier of Kalibr missile in Black Sea and its possible salvo, Ukrainian Navy reports
As of 6:00 AM on November 8 (Kyiv time), one Russian Kalibr missile carrier remains active in the Black Sea, carrying up to four missiles, according to the Ukrainian Navy.
Meanwhile, no Russian ships have been recorded in the Sea of Azov for several months. However, a Kalibr missile carrier with a total salvo capacity of up to eight missiles continues to operate in the Mediterranean, as was the case yesterday.
The Ukrainian Navy added that over the past 24 hours, in the interests of Russia, the following vessels passed through the Kerch Strait:
- to the Black Sea: 11 ships, 3 of which continued toward the Bosporus Strait;
- to the Sea of Azov: 10 ships, 7 of which were coming from the Bosporus Strait.
Additionally, Russia continues to violate the 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) by disabling Automatic Identification Systems (AIS).
As a reminder, Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy stated that Ukraine's strikes on the Black Sea Fleet headquarters and other targets revealed the vulnerability of Crimean facilities. For this reason, Russia is not yet fully planning to return its fleet to Crimea.
"The enemy continues to avoid the Sea of Azov, and their fleet, what could be deemed combat-ready, remains based in Novorossiysk," Pletenchuk said.
He added that Russian aviation is conducting aerial patrols and surveillance operations to secure waters near temporarily occupied Crimea.
