Russian bombers have dropped aerial bombs on the Belgorod region. Over the past few days, eight guided bombs fell there, according to an intercepted conversation released by the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.

In the intercepted call, a resident of the Belgorod region described fires at infrastructure facilities as a result of combat operations. She mentioned that the region is being hit by its own aviation.

"In 11 days, Russian bombers dropped eight bombs, eight bombs on the Belgorod region. Can you imagine?" she said.

The Defense Intelligence noted that Russian forces regularly attack civilians in Ukraine with guided bombs. However, due to technical malfunctions, some bombs "fail to follow their intended course and fall on the heads of Russians living in border areas."

Bomb incidents

Earlier, in early September, Astra reported that since the beginning of 2025, Russian armed forces accidentally dropped more than 100 guided bombs on their own territory and temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine.

For example, on August 27, three FAB-500 bombs fell in occupied Makiivka. At the end of August and early September, unexploded bombs were found in the Belgorod region, in the village of Polevoye and the hamlet of Aleksandrovka.

Since the beginning of the year, media outlets have recorded at least 111 bombs and three missiles falling from Russian aircraft on Russian territory and Ukrainian-occupied areas.

For comparison, in 2024, similar incidents totaled about 165. The cause of the falls is the imperfect design of the bombs, which sometimes prevents them from reaching their targets.
