Russian ballistic missile strike on Zaporizhzhia: Death toll rises, many injured

Several people have been killed and many others injured in a Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia, with doctors continuing to fight for the lives of dozens of victims, Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine report.
In Zaporizhzhia, three people were killed due to an enemy attack, and many others remain in severe condition.
One man, whom rescuers pulled from the rubble, died despite the efforts of medics.
According to the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, 18 people with blast injuries and shrapnel wounds remain under medical supervision, among them a 17-year-old boy.
Some of the injured are in operating rooms, with doctors doing everything possible to preserve their lives and health.
Fedorov reported that the number of injured had risen to 20 people.
According to the latest update, as of August 18, approximately 23 people who were injured due to the enemy attack on Zaporizhzhia remain under medical supervision.
According to local authorities, victims continue to seek medical care. Everyone is receiving the necessary assistance, and some patients, after examinations and treatment, will continue recovery on an outpatient basis.
Psychologists of the State Emergency Service provided assistance to 27 citizens, including 2 children.
Strike on Zaporizhzhia
On the morning of August 18, explosions sounded in the Zaporizhzhia region, and an air raid alert was declared in the region due to the threat of a ballistic strike.
The Head of the Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, noted that the strikes on the city were targeted and aimed at critical infrastructure.
In Zaporizhzhia, the Russians carried out two strikes, as a result of which, at that time, six people were wounded, among them a teenager. Two of the victims were in serious condition and hospitalized in city medical facilities, while the rest received assistance on site.
Local emergency services continue to work at the scenes, with rescue and medical teams eliminating the consequences of the strikes.
Due to the shelling, a fire broke out in commercial pavilions covering an area of 500 square meters, which rescuers have currently localized.
