Russian attacks cut electricity for more than 30,000 in Chernihiv region

Due to Russian strikes on energy facilities in Chernihiv region on Tuesday, August 19, more than 30,000 subscribers were left without power, according to Chernihivoblenergo.
According to the energy company, the affected area is Nizhyn district, where some energy equipment was damaged.
"Today, as a result of enemy shelling in Nizhyn district, some energy equipment was damaged. In the morning, more than 30,000 subscribers were left without electricity," the statement reads.
The company added that energy workers have already restored power to social infrastructure facilities and have developed a scheme to reconnect household consumers.
"This scheme will be implemented as soon as the security situation allows," Chernihivoblenergo noted.
Attack on Ukraine, August 19
Earlier on August 19, Russian forces attacked Chernihiv region with strike drones. Hits on infrastructure caused power outages in several settlements.
During the night, Russia also carried out massive attacks on energy facilities in Poltava region.
According to the regional military administration, strikes and falling debris were recorded in Kremenchuk and Lubny districts.
Administrative buildings of local energy sector enterprises were affected. In Lubny district, the attack left 1,471 households and 119 legal entities without electricity.
