On the night of August 1, Russian forces attacked the Zaporizhzhia region, striking residential buildings. As a result of the attack, one man was killed and another was injured, states the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov.

According to Fedorov, two civilians were affected by the Russian strikes on the Zaporizhzhia district on August 1.

“Russian forces continue attacks on the Zaporizhzhia region. In Veselianka, a 63-year-old man died as a result of a strike on a private house. In Malokaterynivka, a house was damaged and caught fire due to shelling. A 65-year-old man was injured and is receiving all necessary medical assistance,” the first report states.

Later, Fedorov added that the number of those injured in the night attack on the Zaporizhzhia district has increased.

According to the official, two women aged 36 and 77 were wounded. One was injured in Veselianka, and the other in Malokaterynivka. Both received all necessary medical assistance.

Russian strike on a penal colony in the Zaporizhzhia region

Late in the evening on July 28, Russian forces dropped four guided bombs on the territory of the Bilenkivska correctional colony.

As a result of the attack, the colony’s dining hall was completely destroyed, and the administrative headquarters and quarantine area were partially damaged. The death of 16 prisoners has been confirmed. The total number of casualties exceeded 90 people.

Later, Ukraine’s Minister of Justice, Herman Halushchenko, reported that the prisoners were evacuated immediately after the Russian attack.
