Russian forces launched another massive attack on Ukrainian cities overnight, using cruise missiles and kamikaze drones. Explosions were heard in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi, and Kropyvnytskyi. The attack resulted in the destruction of buildings, injuries, and casualties.

Air raid sirens went of in various regions shortly after midnight. The command of the Ukrainian Air Force was warned about Russia launching kamikaze drones from different directions, as well as Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea waters.

Air defense systems were shooting down Russian drones and missiles over several regions of Ukraine.

Russia attacked Ukraine with 20 Shahed drones and two cruise missiles

According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian attack was launched from different directions: northeast (Kursk) and southeast (Primorsko-Akhtarsk).

The enemy also launched two Kalibr cruise missiles and one ballistic missile Iskander-M from the Black Sea (Dzhankoy, Crimea).

As a result of the combat operations, all 20 attack drones were destroyed, mostly in the Kyiv region. Two cruise missiles were also destroyed in other regions.

Regarding the consequences of launching the Iskander-M missile, information is still being clarified.

Attack on Kyiv

As a result of the night attack by kamikaze drones on the capital, four individuals were injured. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that during the extinguishing of a fire in a multi-story residential building in the Podil district, a deceased person was found.

The Kyiv City Military Administration reported that cases of debris falling were recorded in the Darnytskyi, Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Obolonskyi, and Podilskyi districts as a result of the enemy's attack.

Later, the mayor of the city added that in the Darnytskyi district, the facade of a residential building was damaged due to falling debris. There was also a fire on the balcony of a multi-story building in the Shevchenkivskyi district.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, rescuers extinguished a fire on the balcony of a 5-story residential building. Two individuals were injured (smoke inhalation) as a result of the incident.

Damage to the facade of another 25-story residential building without subsequent fire was reported. Two injured individuals with shrapnel wounds were found at the scene and taken to a medical facility.

There was also a fire in a 1-story building with its spread to the roof, covering an area of 20 square meters. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. Additionally, they extinguished a debris fire in the green zone of the adjacent territory.


Explosions in Khmelnytskyi and other cities

During the air alarm, journalists from "Suspilne" reported explosions in Khmelnytskyi. The Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration reported that the explosions occurred in the Khmelnytskyi region. There were also reports of explosions in Kropyvnytskyi, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia. The causes and consequences of these incidents are unknown.

Ukrainian air defense

According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, kamikaze drones approached the capital from different directions. With the efforts and means of air defense, about a dozen enemy targets were detected and destroyed in the airspace of Kyiv.

As reported by the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitaliy Kim, a Kalibr missile and four Shahed drones were shot down by the air defense forces in the region.

According to the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, an unmanned aerial vehicle of Russian origin was shot down in the sky above the region last night.

Reaction of the International Community to the night attack

The Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine, Matti Maasikas, wrote on Twitter: "Loud explosions in Kyiv. The aggressor must be marking the NATO summit. All in vain."

The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Ukraine, Melinda Simmons, mentioned that she woke up to an aircraft overflight in Kyiv and heard a loud explosion nearby.

During the night of July 13, an air alarm was declared in many regions of Ukraine, and the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned about launches of kamikaze drones and cruise missiles.
