Russian attack on Kyiv: Nearly 20 drones downed on capital outskirts
On the morning of Monday, August 26, Russia launched strikes against Ukraine. One of the targets was the capital, Kyiv, where the air raid alert lasted for more than 8 hours in total, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration.
According to the statement, the air raid alert in Kyiv lasted 8 and a half hours in total.
Up to a dozen enemy drones were destroyed during the night. And about the same number were destroyed during the daytime drone attack.
“In total, almost 20 enemy drones heading for the capital were detected and destroyed. The combat work was conducted on the outskirts of Kyiv,” the statement said.
Massive shelling
On Monday morning, August 26, Russia conducted another massive attack on Ukraine. Ukraine's Air Force reports that the Russians were flying ten Tu-95MS strategic bombers and deploying missile carriers into the Black Sea.
One of the Russians' targets was the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. Two energy facilities in the Kyiv region were damaged. Ukrenergo energy company ordered emergency blackouts.
Air defense in Kyiv also destroyed about a dozen missiles.
