8 Ukrainian mines have been left without power due to a Russian strike in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Nearly 2,600 miners remain underground, and efforts to bring them to the surface are ongoing, according to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

"As a result of another Russian attack in the Dnipropetrovsk region, 8 coal mines have been left without power. At the time of the incident, 2,595 miners were underground," the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine says.

Rescuers and mine personnel quickly organized the evacuation of people to the surface. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties or injuries as a result of the Russian strikes.

"Russia continues its energy terrorism. Another strike has endangered the lives of thousands of miners. Russia continues to wage war on civilians. The Russians' tactics are clear – to leave Ukrainians without light and heat in winter," says Ukrainian Energy Minister Svitlana Hrinchuk.

Russia attacks Ukraine's mines

On October 19, Russians launched a massive attack on a coal mine owned by the DTEK energy company in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Nearly 200 people were trapped underground as a result of the Russian strike.

On August 26, Russian troops struck a mine owned by the DTEK energy company. One worker was killed and three others were injured in the attack.

On the same day, Russia struck many settlements near Dobropillia. As a result, some of the local mines were left without power, and hundreds of miners were trapped underground. However, they were successfully evacuated to the surface.
