Russian army tries to break through defense of Ukrainian forces in Donetsk region - General Staff

On Friday, July 12, the situation remained most intense in the Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, and Toretsk directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Enemy shelling

Throughout the day, the enemy launched 45 airstrikes on Ukrainian territory, deploying 58 guided bombs and using 429 kamikaze drones. Russian forces shelled Ukrainian Armed Forces positions and populated areas 3,408 times.

Frontline situation

Since the beginning of the day, there have been 136 combat engagements on the front lines.

In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy attacked near Hlyboke, Vovchansk, Staritsa, and Lyptsi 11 times. All enemy attempts were unsuccessful. According to preliminary estimates, as of July 12, the Russian army has lost 27 soldiers killed and 52 wounded. Ukrainian Defense Forces have also destroyed three artillery systems, the Pantsir-S1 air defense system, 38 UAVs, five pieces of automotive equipment, and three units of special equipment. Additionally, two tanks, five artillery systems, and one vehicle have been damaged.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted six times throughout the day to advance towards our positions near Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Pisky, and Berestove. Ukrainian Defense Forces have successfully repelled three of the enemy's attacks, with ongoing battles continuing.

In the Lyman direction today, the enemy attacked 16 times in the areas of Nevske, Serebrianske Forestry, Makiivka, Terni, and Torsk. Four combat clashes are ongoing, while all others have been halted by our soldiers. Losses among Russian forces are being clarified.

In the Siversk direction, the enemy tried four times during the day to break through our defenses in the areas of Bilohorivka, Rozdolivka, and Viyimka. Battles are ongoing. The situation is under control.

In the Kramatorsk direction, there were 11 skirmishes throughout the day. Nine attacks near Ivanivka, Andriivka, and Chasiv Yar were repelled. The Russian army suffered losses. The situation remains tense, with ongoing fighting at two locations near Chasiv Yar.

In the Toretsk direction, our troops repelled 19 enemy attacks near Toretsk, Pivnichne, Zalizne, and New York. Fourteen attacks were successfully repelled, with no success for the enemy; battles continue.

The enemy showed the highest activity today in the Pokrovsk direction. Overall, since the beginning of the day, Russian forces attempted to infiltrate our defenses 40 times in areas near the settlements of Oleksandrivka, Novoselivka Persha, Novooleksandrivka, Prohres, Lozuvatske, Sokil, Yasnobrodivka, Vozdivizhenka, and Karlivka.

Currently, 33 enemy attacks have been repelled, with seven combat clashes ongoing. Defenders are taking measures to stabilize the situation and prevent the enemy from advancing deeper into Ukrainian territory. The enemy has suffered significant losses - according to preliminary information, our forces neutralized 166 occupiers today, 69 of whom were eliminated. An enemy BMP, a hostile vehicle, and three cannons were destroyed. Three more enemy cannons were severely damaged.

In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy attacked our positions 17 times. The most intense activity was observed near Paraskeviivka and Kostiantynivka. The enemy did not succeed in their attacks.

In the Vremivka direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 5 enemy attacks near Vodiane and Urozhaine, with two combat clashes still ongoing.

In the Orikhiv direction, the Russian army unsuccessfully attempted three assaults on our positions in the areas of Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne.

No significant changes were reported in other directions.

The General Staff noted that for their effective combat operations on July 12, special recognition should go to the soldiers of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Black Zaporizhians, who inflicted significant losses on the enemy in manpower and equipment.

According to the daily report from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the situation on the front remains tense and challenging. There were 94 combat engagements since the beginning of the day.

On July 12, the total losses of the Russian army exceeded 1030 personnel.

Meanwhile, Ukraine expects to receive six F-16 fighters this summer and up to 20 by the end of the current year.
