The Russian army attempted to cross to the western bank of the Oskil River and establish a foothold there. Their attempt was repelled, according to the Khortytsia operational-strategic group.

According to the military, on the Kupiansk axis, Russian infantry attacks were successfully repelled near Petropavlivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Pishchane, and Zahryzove.

"The enemy is once again attempting to transfer personnel to the western bank of the Oskil River. The Defense Forces are taking measures to prevent their advance and movement," the statement said.

Battles for Kupiansk

Last year, information spread across the internet suggesting that a group of Russian occupiers had possibly broken through to Kupiansk. However, at that time, Ukrainian forces managed to repel the attack.

Earlier, in early February of this year, Russian troops already attempted to cross the Oskil River in Kharkiv Oblast. Thanks to precise strikes by the Defense Forces, the enemy suffered heavy losses, and the occupiers were eliminated.

A week ago, fighters of the 5th Separate Slobozhanska Brigade "Skif" of the National Guard of Ukraine crushed enemy assault groups on the Kupiansk axis. As a result, five Russian soldiers were wounded, and one was eliminated.

According to Andrii Demchenko, the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Russian forces have intensified attacks on the Kupiansk axis, but Ukrainian defenders detect the enemy before they even reach the frontline positions.

"Recently, we have seen increased enemy activity on the Kupiansk axis, where they are attempting to launch assaults on our positions," Demchenko said.
