The Russian army continues to maintain an advantage in artillery shells on the front line, but since winter 2024, this advantage has been reduced by nearly threefold, according to the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk.

"As of today, the ratio of artillery ammunition use on the battlefield has decreased compared to the winter of 2024. Back then, the ratio was 1 to 8. Today, it stands at 1 to 3," he said.

Havryliuk added that Ukraine finds it difficult to compete in the production of arms, military equipment, and ammunition with Russia, whose industrial potential is greater. Therefore, the assistance of foreign partners and the effective work of officials play a decisive role.

"Our agencies, the government, and the leadership of Ukraine are doing significant work towards creating joint ventures so that, with the help of our partners, we can produce the full range of arms and military equipment that we need," said the First Deputy Minister.

In April, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy mentioned an artillery shell ratio of 1 to 10. "Can we hold our positions? No. In any case, with such statistics, they will push us back every day," he said.

In April, aid from the United States was unblocked. Additionally, in 2024, Ukraine began receiving shells under a Czech initiative.

According to a report by the Institute for the Study of War in June, the Ukrainian Armed Forces started receiving artillery ammunition from Western countries, but the volumes were still insufficient to allow the Ukrainian forces to effectively counter the Russians.
