Russian army preparing new tactics as colder weather approaches southern Ukraine

Russian forces are starting to prepare for combat as colder weather and worsening conditions are approaching, reports Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for Ukraine's Southern Defense Forces.
He said it is too early to determine how the weather change will affect Russia's tactics, at least in southern Ukraine, where temperatures remain higher than in other regions. At the same time, the Russian army is already regrouping its forces and equipment.
"Personnel from assault units are being moved to forward positions. They will conduct attacks in a new way — this is a fact. Regrouping is particularly active now in the Prydniprovskyi and Kherson directions," Voloshyn said.
He added that the enemy is also trying to rotate troops on several islands at observation posts.
"Smoke simulators are being used to cover these actions. Therefore, the enemy is preparing for combat under slightly changed (weather, -ed.) conditions, such as when all the leaves have fallen. Naturally, this season is used on the front to get ready for further fighting," the spokesperson added.
Earlier, Dmytro Zaporozhets, spokesperson for the 11th Army Corps, stated that Russian forces are attempting to cross the Siverskyi Donets River in the Siversk direction to launch further assaults.
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Russian army is currently redeploying its marines from Sumy and Kherson regions for combat in eastern Ukraine. The main focus is on the southern Donetsk and Huliaipole directions. In addition, Russian soldiers are forming operational reserves.
