Russian army deploying former female prisoners for assaults - Ukraine's Forces
Russian forces are bringing in reserves for active combat operations in the Kurakhove, Vremivka, and Pokrovsk directions. Additionally, Russia is involving women with prior convictions in assault operations, according to Nazar Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Grouping of Troops.
According to him, the enemy is deploying reserves from other directions.
The Russian military command has been forced to use a significant portion of its strategic reserves, accumulated throughout the year, to seize territories in the Kurakhove, Vremivka, and Pokrovsk directions.
"I must report that we have observed newly mobilized personnel and former prisoners among the Russian forces. Recently, we have also received information indicating that women in the Russian army, specifically former convicts from the Storm units — groups formed from ex-prisoners — have been involved in assault operations," Voloshyn said.
He added that Russian prisons are nearly empty due to the mass mobilization of convicts for the war in Ukraine. Some prisoners reported that less than a month passed between their sentencing in Russia and their capture in Ukraine.
Previously, it was reported that the Russian forces are seeking additional manpower and recruiting women from correctional colonies in Russia to fight against Ukraine. They are offered money and a promise of eventual return home.
The Russian Ministry of Defense primarily seeks medics, snipers, and, if desired, assault troops.
